Saying " I don't need a dog from a breeder who shows" is like saying, "I don't need a house from a builder who builds to code."

What sets a good breeder apart from all the listings you see online?  Support & testing. Breeding Labradors is so much more than simply passing hips & elbows at 2. Good breeders breed for a purpose & to better the breed. Each generation trying to improve the one before. How? By doing genetic testing on our breeding stock to ensure future generations are not affected with something which could have been prevented thru testing. Yes testing costs into the thousands of dollars, but you can’t better a breed by making ‘blind choices’ in the whelping box. No a carrier dog is NOT affected, however a carrier of one gene should not be bred to a dog carrying the same gene..  Without testing how would you know?   As a breeder I also go one step further to publicly list the results on OFA (The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). On OFA’s site you can research pedigrees for test results & help make informed decisions before a mating ever occurs.  Along with genetics we look at long coat genes & color markers.  Be sure to check out our ‘What Are Tests For’ page for further insight into why we test.  Buying a puppy is a lifeline commitment. Be sure the breeder you choose is making the right choices before a litter is produced.

Still reading?!  Perfect, here is some more information:

After I have bred a litter I will create a contact 'potential puppy homes waiting list'. Once litter is whelped I will contact those on that list first, should you decide to you are interested in a puppy, a signed contract will be required along with a non refundable $400 deposit. Please keep in mind that I breed a litter for myself first and will keep as many puppies as deemed necessary to continue with my show & breeding program. Puppies are temperament placed in their forever homes, I loved them first, so I have a better idea of what each puppy needs. Puppies are raised in my home with daily interaction with the household. As they grow so does their living arrangements including going outside during the day (weather permitting) but are all back inside each evening.

Your puppy will come with a puppy packs, a 6 week trial of pet insurance and have first vaccination. Puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks before heading home (no this is not on the paperwork as it is basic neonatal protocol) and deworming will need to be done several times within their first year of life.  Please keep in mind there will still be more vaccinations needed at 12 & 16 weeks of age including a rabies vaccination.

Proud to be clients of Okanagan Veterinary Hospital

Dear Puppy Family,

As a breeder, the health of my dogs and puppies is my top priority. That’s why I enthusiastically recommend NuVet Plus immune system builder to all of our customers. Simply put, it is the best nutritional supplement available today.

Hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats are using NuVet Plus to provide optimal health and a strong immune system. A strong immune system will protect them from environmental and food toxins such as back yard pesticides, hormones, toxic formaldehyde in furniture and carpeting. NuVet Plus also supports proper development as well as a beautiful skin and coat.

This is not just a vitamin. It’s an immune system builder with a precise balance of vitamins, minerals, omega fatty acids, amino acids and high-potency antioxidants. That’s why it works so well through all three stages of a dog’s life.

  • For puppies - Fills the immunity gap all puppies experience. Shortly after birth maternal antibody effectiveness is greatly reduced. By 8 weeks your puppy’s immune system is at a vulnerable point. Once in their new home, the immune system is weakened by the stress of adoption and exposure to novel bacteria and viruses in their environment. This is also when the vaccine series is started. Vaccines are most effective if the immune system can respond properly. Starting NuVet Plus now is important to helping your puppy grow into a healthy adult.

  •  For dogs in their prime - Provides the necessary antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals to sustain peak performance during the prime of their lives.

  • For older dogs - Helps provide the nutritional needs to live long, happy, and productive lives in their senior years.

We highly recommend NuVet Plus to keep your pet on the path to perfect health! It’s not available in stores, and is only available to the general public with an order code from an authorized pet professional.

For your convenience, you may order directly from the manufacturer by calling 800-474-7044 and using Order Code: 76589.

You can also save an additional 15% and assure you never run out of NuVet by choosing the “AutoShip” option at check out.

To the long life and health of your puppy!
